Tell me more: The Cafe Intenzo is located right at Budapest’s Kálvin tér at the corner of its famous Raday utca. You can reach it with the 3 or 4 Metro line, or with the 47/49 tram line.

Looking for a  nice dinner in the evening and not really having a destination in mind we were just looking around near Kálvin tér and Raday utca which has numerous nice restaurants. We stumbled upon the Cafe Intenzo and gave it a try. We went there during the week and did not book a table. We were lucky enough to get a free table after a few minutes of waiting. It can be be quite crowded in the evening, so to be sure you will have a nice spot to eat make sure you book a table in advance.

The Cafe Intenzo has quite a nice flair. Nothing fancy, but decorated and designed with a lot of detail as you can tell. The atmoshpere was very warm and welcoming and the waiters have been very nice as well. During summer time the have a nice terrace outside to eat or just enjoy a glass of wine or two and enjoy the summer breeze.

They offer business lunch and daily menus during the week at around noon as well as their à la carte menu which has quite an international flair with hungarian specialties. Of course you will find the Goulash Soup but also Ceasar salad as a starter and the main courses range from Risotto to Wiener Schnitzel or Budapest style steak.

We settled for a Tuscan tomato soup with mozarella and a chicken soup with vegetables as starters, which both have been outstanding. Try the tomato soup, you won’t regret it!

As main courses we choose the Salmon with honey shallots and potato gratin and a beef steak with tagliatelle, spinach and a mushroom sauce. Both dishes have been great in taste and definitley sufficient in its size. You will definitely get what you pay for.

Summing up we can just recommend this cafe/restaurant. It’s flying a bit under the radar as it is not the most extravagant or  one the fanciest restaurant in Budapest but it deserves a really good recommendation. And if you check out their Social Media or Google rating you will see that they got amazing ratings.  If you like international cuisine as well as hungarian specialties give it a try. It’s a great spot, not as touristic as some of the other restaurants in Raday utca and just great value for money.

We will definitely come back!

Have a nice week.
